CWI Regional 4-Day Championships: Guyana Harpy Eagles blown away for 116, Hurricanes in total control

Leeward Islands Hurricanes are in firm control on day one of the second round of Cricket West Indies’ Regional Four-Day Championships in the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. The Guyana team won the toss and elected to bat first, and were rolled over for 116 in 34.3 overs.

In response, Hurricanes were 126-0, leading by ten runs, with Kieran Powell on 55 and Montcin Hodge on 51.

John Campbell smashed a century in the other fixture, while Palmer made 76

Anthony Bramble top-scored with 38, and Keemo Paul made 20. In the poor batting display, where batsmen played loose shots, Bramble and Paul featured in a 50-run stand for the sixth wicket. The top-five batsmen for Harpy Eagles, who are all left-handers, failed to reach double-digit figures.
Shimron Hetmyer was removed for a golden duck, after he was given out obstructing the field. The Hurricanes bowlers shared the wickets, with left-arm seamer Colin Archibald claiming 3-29 and left-arm spinner Daniel Doram picking-up 3-16 in six overs.
Alzarri Joseph, who returned from India, had 2-26.
In response, Hodge and Powell looked solid. Hodge made his 51, which included five fours, from 168 balls, and Powell, whose 55 included seven fours, made his runs from 114 balls. The second day bowls off from 10:00h at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
