CWI Women’s U19 Championships: Guyana suffers another defeat as Windward, Barbados, Trinidad claim wins

Guyana’s Under-19 Women suffered another defeat in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship, going down by 15 runs to the Windward Islands in their Round Four encounter.
Windward Islands Under-19 Women won the toss and elected to bat, posting 93 for three from their allotted 20 overs. Kaela George remained unbeaten on 24 from 29 balls, while Mikayla Adam provided support with 16 from 35 deliveries.
In reply, Guyana struggled to mount a successful chase, reaching 78 for eight from their 20 overs. Sarah Bheir top-scored with 24 from 31 balls, while Danellie Manns remained unbeaten on 15 from 50 deliveries.
For Guyana, Manns, Sowanna Booker, and Kaiana Leitch each claimed a wicket.
Windward Islands’ victory was secured through an impressive bowling effort from Giada Small and Ammie Antoine, who claimed three wickets each.
At the Liberta Sports Club, Barbados Under-19 Women edged Jamaica by six runs in another closely contested encounter.
Jamaica won the toss and opted to field, restricting Barbados to 102 for eight from their 20 overs. Zaniyah Bruce top-scored with 30 from 25 balls, including four fours, while Jamis Morris-Alleyne contributed 10.
Davehjah Brown was Jamaica’s leading bowler with three for 10, while Brianna Plummer took two for 20.
Jamaica’s reply ended on 96 for nine from their 20 overs. Adanya Baugh and Sashane Ricketts top-scored with 14 and 13, respectively, but Barbados held their nerve to secure the six-run victory.
Meanwhile, the Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 Women recorded another comfortable victory, defeating the Leeward Islands by eight wickets.
Leeward Islands, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, were dismissed for just 50 in 16.2 overs. Zara Skerritt and Lois George both made 12, but the Trinidad and Tobago bowling attack kept the pressure on throughout the innings.
Samara Ramnath led the attack with four wickets, while Brianna Harricharan claimed three.
Trinidad and Tobago completed the chase in 13.2 overs, reaching 52 for two. Amrita Ramtahal top-scored with an unbeaten 17 to guide her side to an eight-wicket victory.
The championship now moves into its final round, with three matches remaining. Windward Islands will face Jamaica, and Leeward Islands will meet Guyana, while Barbados will take on Trinidad and Tobago.
Guyana will be hoping to end their campaign on a positive note when they face the Leeward Islands in their final fixture.
