Decomposed bodies of men found in Demerara River, Montrose trench

The decomposed bodies of two unidentified men were on Thursday pulled from the Demerara River and a trench at Montrose, East Coast Demerara respectively.

The Police have said they received an anonymous call stating that a body was seen floating at the eastern bank of the Demerara River in the vicinity of the Tiger Bay area. The discovery was made at about 12:15h, and a team of ranks from the Brickdam Police Station went to the area and observed the body with its foot in an advanced state of decomposition. The head and hands also appeared to have been eaten or rotted away.
The body, clad in a pair of grey three-quarter pants, was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home to await proper identification and a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the partially decomposed body of another man was found floating in a trench at Montrose, ECD. This body, of a man of East Indian descent, was found lying in a face-down position and without clothes on it. Police examined the body for marks of violence, but none was seen.
This body is also at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting identification and an autopsy.
