Decomposed body of 97-year-old woman found in NWD

The partially-decomposed body of a woman who has been identified as 97-year-old Ruby Williams was discovered on Sunday at Perseverance Backdam, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini).
According to a Police report, the elderly woman had refused to stay with relatives and lived alone in a camp at Perseverance Backdam.
On June 10, about 14:00h, the elderly woman was reportedly seen walking along the Perseverance Backdam trail towards her camp.
On June 13, about 13:00h, William Bell was reportedly walking through a trail where he observed a flock of vultures. On closer examination, he noticed a decomposing body and immediately contacted the Police.
Based on Police reports, the facial tissues and other parts of the woman’s body were eaten by vultures making it impossible to scan the body for marks of violence.
It was also reported that owing to the advanced state of decomposition and the damage done by the vultures, the body could not be transported and as such, a grave was dug and it was buried, with exhumation if needed possible.
