Dindyal century powers GCC into GCA 50-over final

Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) secured their place in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Dave West Indian Inc First Division 50-over final with a commanding eight-wicket victory over Police Sports Club (PSC) in the Eliminator at the PSC Ground, Eve Leary, on Saturday.

Centurion Mavendra Dindyal

Chasing a modest target of 174, GCC reached 176 for two in just 20.1 overs, with Mavendra Dindyal producing a magnificent unbeaten century to lead the successful run chase.
Dindyal dominated the contest with an unbeaten 114 from 71 deliveries, striking 15 fours and six sixes to ensure GCC completed the victory comfortably and booked their place in the final against Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).
Earlier, PSC won the toss and elected to bat but struggled to establish momentum after losing Pernell London for a duck to Yeudistir Persaud.
Wickets continued to fall as the home side failed to build substantial partnerships, eventually being bowled out for 173 in 34.4 overs.
Vishaul Williams top-scored with 37 from 28 balls, including three fours and three sixes, while Kyle Michael contributed 31 from 51 deliveries.
GCC’s spinners played an important role in restricting PSC, with Devon Lord and Aryan Persaud claiming identical figures of two wickets for 23 runs. Yeudistir Persaud also finished with two wickets, conceding 42 runs.
The target proved no challenge for GCC as Dindyal took control of the chase, attacking the PSC bowling and bringing the contest to an early conclusion.
Shane Prince and Anthony Adams claimed a wicket each for PSC, but they were unable to halt GCC’s progress.
GCC’s emphatic victory sets up a final showdown with DCC for the GCA Dave West Indian Inc. First Division 50-over title.
