Duo jailed for stealing undergarments

Two men were on Friday jailed for 18 months after they admitted to stealing a box of women’s undergarments.
On their initial appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, Leslie Ferdinand and Harry Mowanie denied that they stole the items from the Stabroek Market Wharf on January 23, 2019. However, on Friday when the men reappeared in court, they admitted that they stole the box belonging to businessman Mondale Rogers, which contained 30 pairs of slippers, 10 panties and a number of brassieres with a total value of $391,000.
According to the prosecution’s case, the men were found with some of the stolen articles in their possession. Following their first court appearance, they were both remanded to prison after they could not give the court a fixed place of abode.
However, when they reappeared on Friday, the duo told Magistrate Leron Daly that they wished to change their plea, and as such, they were jailed.
