East Bank Demerara man charged for unlawfully discharging firearm

Twenty-four-year-old Andrew Fields was on Friday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for unlawfully discharging a loaded firearm.
The accused, of Lot 12 North East Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was not required to plea to the indictable charge which stated that on June 20, at KuruKururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, EBD, he discharged a loaded firearm at Kevin Batson.
The man who was unrepresented told the court that he does maintenance work on a farm.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail based on the gravity of the charge and the fact that other charges are likely to be laid against the defendant. He also brought to the attention of the court the fact that the victim is still hospitalised.
Fields was remanded to prison until July 12.
