EBD water supply disrupted after truck crashes into GWI line

Residents of several East Bank Demerara (EBD) communities experienced an unplanned water supply interruption on Monday after a vehicular accident damaged a section of Guyana Water Incorporated’s (GWI) infrastructure at Garden of Eden. In a notice issued on June 8, GWI said customers in Garden of Eden, Brickery, Supply and Support, EBD were affected by the disruption. According to the company, the interruption was caused by damage to a six-inch trench crossing resulting from a vehicular accident in the Garden of Eden area. “The interruption you are experiencing to your water supply is due to a damaged 6-inch trench crossing, which was caused by a vehicular accident at Garden of Eden,” GWI stated in the notice. The utility company said its technical team had been mobilised and was working to complete repairs as quickly as possible to restore normal service to affected customers.
