ECCC/Neville Ramotar Memorial Knockout T/20 Finals set for CARICOM Day

Bhaskar Yadram will be keen on taking his team to the finals

After months of intense action, the highly anticipated ECCC/Neville Ramotar Memorial T/20 competition will come to an end on the East Coast of Demerara with the final four teams battling for supremacy on July 1 (CARICOM Day).
This final game of the tournament and the third place play-off games will be held at the Enmore Community Centre ground, and organizers are hoping that the weather remains favourable for cricket, since two other competitions are slated to commence shortly on the Essequibo Coast.
This T/20 competition, played in memory of the late Enmore resident Neville Ramotar, commenced in April 2019 with 18 teams and with matches being played on a knockout basis. In the remaining games that precede the finals, Strathavon ‘B’ will battle Ogle CC on Saturday at 14:00 hrs at Ogle, with the winner taking on Lusignan East on Sunday at 9:30hrs at the Lusignan ground.
Enmore CCCC would also be coming up against Fairfield SC at Enmore. The winners of these two games will then face off at Enmore at 14:00 hrs, while the better of the two losers would battle Enterprise BSC at Lusignan in the semi-finals at 14:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, Enmore CCCC has advanced to the quarter-finals after defeating Lusignan last Sunday at the Lusignan ground. Batting first in a game reduced to 15 overs due to rain, ECCCC were dismissed in the last over for 128. Imran Hassan with 42, Chris Surat with 28, and Vishwanauth Ramlakhan with 21 led with the scoring.
Lusignan, in reply, folded for 83 in the last over, as Yuvraj Dyal and Imran Hassan bagged 3 wickets for 16 runs and 2 wickets for 3 runs respectively.
The final and third-place games will be played on Monday at Enmore as part of the Enmore Community Centre’s Bar-B-Que and fund-raising event. Entrance to the venue is free.
