The Ministry of Education, through the Unit of Allied Arts, has introduced the first formal Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF)/Guyana Football Federation (GFF) D-Licence Coaching course for teachers and Coaches working in schools.
The initiative represents a significant step in the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen football development by improving the knowledge and capabilities of those responsible for guiding young players.
The course covers fundamental Coaching methods, child safeguarding, drill design and age-appropriate physical training. These areas are expected to help participants conduct safer and more structured sessions while supporting the overall development of student-athletes.
Unit of Allied Arts Coordinator Aeon DeViera said improving the abilities of teachers and school Coaches could have a wider impact on youth football across Guyana.
According to DeViera, better-trained Coaches can help to produce more disciplined, skilled and resilient young athletes throughout the country.
The introduction of the D-Licence course forms part of the ongoing national drive to develop sport through education and provide young athletes with improved Coaching at the school level.
