ESPN, Future Stars maintain winning streak in Xtra Beer Futsal Tournament

Action in the Xtra Beer-sponsored Futsal tournament got underway on Friday night, and saw ESPN and Future stars racking up consecutive victories.
In game six of the first round, ESPN needed only a single goal to get past Hustlers, as Kevon Lythcott was on target in the 6th minute.
The youthful Future Stars, who have arrived on the Futsal scene with a bang, played out a goalless normal and extra time to go to penalty kicks with Samaroo Dam. The resulting penalty kicks were won by Future Stars by a margin of three to two. Earlier, the Silver Bullets struck twice without reply in their game with Tucville. Their hero was Damion Williams in the 10th and 23rd minutes.
Back Circle suffered an upset, as Lot-20 pressured them into scoring an own goal to give away the victory.
Dave and Celina’s All-Stars quietly disposed of Bagotstown Warriors through Kenard Simon in the 4th and Joel McKinnon in the 12th minutes to win 2-0.
The Tajoe’s Admiral United were handed a loss, as Showstoppers needed a solitary goal from Marvin Josiah in the 11th minute to go through to the second round.
In a closely contested game, Agricola eventually emerged 2-0 victors when they clashed with Speed Boat, as Collis Samuels notched up a brace in the 3rd and 10th minutes, with Amoniki Buntin (7th minute) being the lone goal scorer for Speedboat.
In the final first round game between Tiger Bay and Gully Side, penalty kicks were needed, and the former duly won 1-0 on sudden death.
In round two, Back Circle redeemed themselves against Silver Bullets by winning 1-0 through a Jermaine Beckles goal in the ninth minute.
Lot-20 maintained their winning ways, this time against Tucville, as the game went to penalty kicks, only for Tucville to lose 3-2.
ESPN also needed penalty kicks (2-1) to win against Dave and Celina’s All-Stars, while Future Stars downed Tiger Bay 1-0 thanks to Jamal Cozier, who scored in the 4th minute.
Bagotstown Warriors won 2-1 on penalties, to hand Hustlers their second defeat of the night.
Tajoe’s Admiral United defeated Agricola 2-0 on penalties.
