Essequibo man arrested with counterfeit currency remanded to prison

Anand Alphonso, also called ‘Dolo’, a 43-year-old resident of Lima Housing Scheme on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was on Wednesday arraigned before Anna Regina Magistrate Tamieka Clarke on a charge of having a counterfeit currency note in his possession.

Alphonso, who had been arrested on Tuesday at Lima Housing Scheme, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
However, the prosecutor objected to bail, and the defendant has been remanded to prison until August 27, 2024.
