Essequibo man dies after crashing motorcycle into utility pole
A driver attached to the Guyana Oil Company (GuyOil) in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was on Wednesday evening killed after he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and it slammed into a utility pole.
The dead man has been identified as 59-year-old Sugrim Singh, also known as “Sugo”, of Perseverance Estate. Based on reports received, the accident occurred at about 20:30h at Johanna Cecelia, Essequibo Coast. At the time of the accident, the now dead man was riding motorcycle CE 5133. As a result, he sustained injuries about his body, and was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigations are ongoing.
Back in August, an accident along the Airy Hall Public Road in Region Two had left a Policeman and another man dead.
Ramesh Das, who had been attached to the Court Superintendent’s Office in Police Regional Division Two, and 23-year-old Zameer Ali were at the time on a motorcycle when it collided with a motorcar.
It was reported that the motorcycle ended up in the path of the car, thus causing a head-on collision. As a result of that collision, both men sustained injuries about their bodies.
They were subsequently picked up and taken to the Suddie Hospital, where Das was pronounced dead on arrival while Ali was admitted a patient. He succumbed a few hours later.
