Essequibo pensioner dies after collapsing on ferry

Emergency Medical technicians were called onboard the Sabanto Ferry on Monday after a pensioner collapsed and later died.

Dead is 63-year-old Teekram Singh of Jacklow, Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). At the time of the incident, the boat was about to cross from Supenaam to Parika.
Reports are the man was on his way to the capital city where he was about to undergo dialysis treatment.
According to family members, Singh was reportedly left lying on the floor for some time after he collapsed, and was attended to more than an hour later.
One relative told Guyana Times that after they were informed that Singh fell unconscious on the boat, they rushed to the scene, but when they arrived the man was already dead.

This publication was told that instead of persons on the boat rendering assistance, they were seen taking photos and videos of Singh as he lay there. His body is currently at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
