A taxi driver lost his life on Tuesday evening after he reportedly lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a utility pole and ultimately a tree along the Cullen Public Road on the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon–Supenaam).
The deceased man has been identified as 33-year-old Floyd Ricardo Mal of Huis’t Dieren, Essequibo Coast.

Based on reports, the accident occurred at about 21:30h and involved a motor car bearing registration number HD 8678, which was at the time being driven by the now-deceased man.
Enquiries disclosed that the motor car was proceeding along the Cullen Public Road at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control while negotiating a right bend.
As a result, he reportedly drove off the road, collided with a lamp post, and then crashed into a tree where the vehicle came to a halt.

Due to the impact, Mal was pulled from the wreckage in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
However, at the home of the dead man on Wednesday, his family told reporters that they need time to mourn and would not offer any comments at this time.
Guyana Times understands that the man’s 11-year-old son is scheduled to sit the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) on Wednesday and Thursday.
