Eureka Medical Laboratories Inc gives free COVID tests to Guyanese Olympic delegation, 109 Wiruni residents

Eureka Medical Laboratories Inc (EML), again proven to be conscious of its civic duty, is giving back by way of free COVID PCR and rapid antigen tests to two key groups.
In fulfilment of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), EML recognises its social accountability during the COVID pandemic, and has thus collaborated with the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) to facilitate the PCR COVID testing for all members of the Guyana Olympic delegation who are headed to Tokyo, Japan.
The Olympics are scheduled from July 23 to August 8, as the International Olympic Committee postponed holding of the 2020 sporting event because of the onset of the COVID pandemic last year.
The Olympic delegates are: Shyka Gonsalves, Aleka Persaud, Garfield Wiltshire, Idi Lewis, Angelica Holder, Delon Nurse, Julian Edmonds and Emanuel Archibald.
Asked about the reason behind this noble move, EML-CEO Andy Boyle has said he got his inspiration from Muhammed Ali, who once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
EML has always tried its best to be cognisant of its role in the economic, social and environmental development of the country. During these times, when the world is beset with the “new normal” and yet tries to claw through the difficulties, a little help can mean a lot to young people who remain undaunted by the pandemic and still continued to train.
Boyle has said, “It is our way of saying thank you for their wonderful efforts in representing the country.”
Moreover, on June 30, 2021, EML, in collaboration with Ansa McAl Laureate Andrew Mendes and the Ministry of Health, sent a team to administer the COVID antigen test to 109 Wiruni residents as part of another CSR activity. It can be recalled that Mr. Andrew Boyle was an Ansa McAl Laureate in 2018.
The MoH also administered vaccines to some residents.
Always ahead of its game, EML remains the premier medical laboratory in Guyana, providing both PCR and antigen testing for COVID, and has been the first private medical laboratory to be certified by the MoH to conduct COVID testing. It is also the first medical laboratory to have achieved an ISO 15189 accreditation in Guyana.
Whether or not this CSR ends here, the EML CEO, known for his positive attitude and high regard for others, has had this to say: “Our CSR is never ending, and we will continue to give back to our communities, as they have also supported us through the years. This is just the beginning.”
