Fernandes credits team preparation for Endurance win

At the presentation ceremony for the Endurance meet, decorated driver Adrian Fernandes, who has been dominating the track recently, attributed his success to rigorous preparation and the work of his team, Ramchand Wreckers.
The Endurance Championships presentation ceremony was hosted at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club venue in Thomas Lands, Georgetown on Thursday evening, and saw some of Guyana’s best drivers and teams being duly rewarded for their efforts.

On their last race day at the South Dakota Circuit at Timehri, Adrian Fernandes had endured more than two hours on the track to take the overall prize in the 1600cc category with 81 laps completed.
Speaking about his achievement, Fernandes noted that all the credit is due to his competent team, who ensures that the vehicle is ready for the turf.
“It went very well. We did a lot of preparations with the car to ensure that things were nice and solid, and it worked out. The team worked very hard. I always think that I have the easiest job, which is to do my best on the day; but it’s the team that puts in the late hours in the night and grinding early into the morning to make sure the car is well prepared.
“Lucky for me, we have a very strong team that keeps giving me the best car that does the best on race day,” Fernandes said.
Disclosing that preparation is key, Fernandes highlighted the importance of ticking all the boxes, especially in such a long race.
“The preparation is very difficult. Sometimes they pull the car apart and put it back together. Unlike a circuit race, ten laps finish very fast, within like ten minutes; but to go for the two hours, you have to ensure that every bolt is tight and everything is double checked, and you don’t have a chance to come in and fix. So, luckily, we’ve been able to keep strong for this year so far,” he explained.
Other drivers who were rewarded on Thursday evening were: Anand Ramchand, who won the 2000cc class while coming in fourth overall with 72 laps; and Reeyaz and Richard Hamid, who finished on 71 laps.
The pair of Azaad Hassan and Davin Panday crossed the line second in both overall and the 1600cc class with 79 laps.
Dawolu Harper came third in the 1600cc and overall category with 77 laps.
