Five persons are now homeless after a fire gutted their two-storey Eccles, East Bank Demerara house.
Details surrounding the fire remain sketchy, but the Guyana Times understands that the fire started just after 09:00h this morning in the upper flat of the building.
It is reported that a mattress is the source of the fire. However, Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and are currently working at the scene.
An investigation has been launched.
