Fmr national footballer drowned – autopsy

An autopsy performed on the body of 21-year-old Joshua Butts of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam has proven that he died by drowning. Butts died after the car he was driving ended up in a trench in an accident that occurred along the Warren Public Road, East Coast Berbice.

It was reported that on the day in question, at about 03:30h, Butts was driving motor car PTT 7891 along the public road at Warren when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it ended up in the canal.
He was pulled from the vehicle by public-spirited citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was admitted but later succumbed to his injuries.
Guyana Times understands that Butts and others had attended an Emancipation Day function on the Corentyne, and were returning home when the accident occurred. It is unclear if anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
