From cricket to basketball; RHTY&SC makes another donation

The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC), MS through its Gizmos & Gadgets First Division and Under-21 Cricket Teams on Monday handed over a financial donation to the Rose Hall Town Basketball Club to assist in in the t purchase of new basketballs for the 2018 season.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that the Rose Hall Town Basketball Club requested the assistance and the request was approved immediately as RHTY&SC is fully aware of the outstanding work the club was doing to not only promoting the game but also keeping youths off the road and away from a life of Drugs, Crime and Alcohol.

Foster stated has decided at an Executive level to scale back on donations to cricket clubs and to assist other sports organisations based on funds available.
This decision, Foster disclosed was because the club has already assisted over 100 Cricket Clubs in Berbice with millions worth of gears, scorebooks and equipment and it was view that these clubs should start to assist themselves.
Special emphasis would be placed on games such as basketball, volleyball, football, scrabble, chess and table tennis and RHTY&SC would assist Clubs with trophies, medals, prizes and where possible, finance.
The basketball team has no relationship with the RHTY&SC but shares the Area ‘H’ Ground as its home venue.
The Team plays on the all-weather court which was built with funds obtained in 1998 by cricket club from the President of Guyana, Janet Jagan. The Team recently has dominated basketball in the ancient county and has produced one National Player Kevlon Wiggins. Perry Cort of the Basketball Team expressed gratitude for the support.
RHTY&SC would also engage the Basketball Team in discussion latter in the year to discuss upgrading the all weather Court. Floodlights would shortly be installed with funding obtained by RHTY&SC from the Region 6 Regional Democratic Council.
The Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division Teams are led by Kevlin Sinclair and Shown Pereira respectively and includes players like Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Shemaine Campbelle, Erva Giddings, Eon Hooper, Clinton Pestano, Jason Sinclair, Junior Sinclair, Kevlon Anderson, Keith Simpson, Sylus Tyndall, Chanderpaul Govindan and Collis Butts. Both teams plan to host at least 50 personal development projects in 2018.
