GAPLF gets pumping on February 4

– singlet rule to be relaxed for Novices

The Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on Homestretch Avenue will play host to the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation’s (GAPLF) first competition for 2018. The junior powerlifters and newcomers will have their first opportunity to go for glory in the National Novices/Juniors Championship on February 4; the weigh in time on the day will begin at 07:00h while the lifting will start at 09:00h sharp.
At this competition it is understood that the GAPLF will “relax only the Singlet rule for Novice men and Novice women.”

The GAPLF’s 2018 season will begin with the Novices/Juniors Championship on February 4

Sponsorship for the meet has so far come from the ever present Fitness Express and Buddy’s Gym.
Before the Novices/Juniors meet the GAPLF will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, January 27 at the Kuru-Kuru Co-operative College in Durban Backlands from 09:00h.
Among the topics to be discussed at the AGM will be the renewal of affiliations, the perusal of the 2017 AGM minutes, the President’s report, the General Secretary’s report and the Treasurer’s report. The election of 2018 office bearers will also be held on the same day.
In a post via social media the federation outlined the following for the Novices/Juniors Championship:
(1) Tights or biker shorts will be allowed if no Singlet can be obtained, but it must be cut off 3 inches above the knee (Novices ONLY)
(2) Round Neck T-Shirt
(3) Full length Socks (football hose) for Deadlifts.
