GCB President meets Guyana U15 team ahead of departure for Antigua

…Team wraps up successful practice games, receives gear

President of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Bissoondyal Singh, has paid a courtesy visit on the national under-15 team ahead of its departure for Antigua & Barbuda to participate in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Rising Stars U15 50-over championships, which would commence in the next few days.
Having concluded two days of match simulation, the team has wrapped up weeks of encampment with two games, the last of which ended on Wednesday. Included in the team’s top performers are Rovaldo Pareira, who took 4 wickets in Tuesday’s game; Brandon Henry; and Darvir Seegobin, who grabbed 5-15 in the opening game. These players have retained their inter-county form, and have had their performances augmented by the knowledge imparted to them during the recent camp.
Justin Dowlin, who scored 37 in the first match, and U15 vice-captain Emmanuel Lewis, who led one of the two teams, have also shown improvement in form, cracking 70 in Wednesday’s win while scoring 30 in the previous game.

Other players, like Shamar Apple who had scores of 25 and 44, opener Parmeshwar Ram and wicket-keeper Sohail Mohammed, showed good form in the two games played between the Lewis XI and Hetmyer XI.
During his meeting with the U15 players, Singh presented some cricket gear to the youngsters, and urged them to remain confident ahead of the tournament. He added that he himself has immense belief in the team’s competence.
The GCB head told the youngsters he has extreme confidence in this group of players, and is giving them utmost support because, he pointed out, he firmly believes they can win the regional tournament and return home with the title.
The team winging out to Antigua today (Saturday) comprises: Parmeshwar Ram, Justin Dowlin, Darvir Seegobin, Emmanuel Lewis (V/C), Adrian Hetmyer (C), Rovaldo Pareira, Richard Ramdeholl, Khush Seegobin, Sohail Mohammed (W/k), Shamar Apple, Brandon Henry, Gilbert Griffith, Jathniel Nurse and Arif Khan.
Standbys players are: Trilok Nanan, Reyaz Latif, Bomesh Lall, Feeaz Baksh, Kumulchan Ramnarace, Eron Benjamin and Mickle Sharma.
