GCB restores Sinclair’s retainer contract after reintegration process

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has reinstated Kevin Sinclair’s Central Retainer Contract following a structured rehabilitation and reintegration process, giving the all-rounder an opportunity to rebuild his career after disciplinary breaches.
Sinclair had previously been removed from the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad before the board terminated his contract over what it described as serious disciplinary breaches.

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has reinstated Kevin Sinclair’s Central Retainer Contract following a structured rehabilitation and reintegration process

The decision to restore his contract followed professional sessions with psychologist Dr Wil Campbell and consultations involving the Harpy Eagles management, selectors and other GCB personnel.
According to the board, the process began in May 2026 when GCB President Bissoondyal Singh engaged Campbell to provide assessment, guidance and support for Sinclair.
Campbell held several sessions with the cricketer before consulting the entire Harpy Eagles management team, including captain Tevin Imlach. Discussions also involved Cricket Operations Manager Anthony D’Andrade, the GCB technical team and staff, and the selection panel headed by former West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan.
The board said these consultations were intended to prepare for Sinclair’s return to competitive cricket while promoting accountability, discipline, mutual respect and professional support.
Singh said his support for another opportunity did not lessen the importance of discipline. He maintained that young players who encounter difficulties should also receive guidance and the chance to learn from their mistakes.
The GCB President pledged to work closely with Sinclair and expressed confidence that the all-rounder could rebuild his career through dedication, a positive attitude and continued professional guidance.
Singh also credited Sarwan for his contribution to the decision, saying the chairman of selectors’ experience, advice and support had been valuable throughout the process.
Sinclair thanked the GCB, particularly Singh, for restoring his contract and acknowledged those who provided support during his reintegration.
He committed to approaching the opportunity with renewed discipline, dedication and professionalism as he works to regain the confidence of the board, his teammates and the wider cricketing community.
The GCB also acknowledged Campbell, the Harpy Eagles management, D’Andrade, its technical team and staff, and the other participants in the process.
