GCB Treasurer Brian Sukhai cops “Best DBA Graduating Student” at Jacksonville University

Having successfully defended his doctoral research in February 2022, Brian Sukhai has been named the Best Graduating Student of Jacksonville University’s Doctor of Business Administration Class of 2022.

The award was announced at Jacksonville University’s commencement ceremony that was held on April 30 in Jacksonville, North Florida.
Dr. Sukhai’s dissertation examined the impact financial misconduct has on firm value, liquidity, and earnings’ management, and his work was selected for presentation in July 2022 at the 2022 FMA European Conference in Lyon, France.
This conference brings together academics and practitioners with interests in financial decision-making, and provides a forum for presenting new research and discussing current issues in financial management and related topics.
“We are proud to call Dr. Sukhai an alumnus of the DBA Program at Jacksonville University. During his time here as a student, he has proven himself to be hard-working and persistent, with the skills needed to lead industry into the future. The acceptance of his dissertation work at an internationally known venue only substantiates what we know, that Dr. Sukhai has the potential to change business practices worldwide for the better,” said Dr. Barbara Ritter, Dean, Davis College of Business.
Speaking about his achievement, Dr. Sukhai said: “By God’s Grace, I am delighted to have completed a most rigorous DBA program at Jacksonville University, and the intention from my side now is to augment my contribution towards the development of my country, which is at a very exciting stage in its expansion trajectory”

Prior to his current role as General Manager of Skeldon Energy, Dr Sukhai held roles at the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, The Privatization Unit, DFLSA, The EU Delegation to Guyana, and Power Producers and Distributors. He was a Guyana Scholar in 1996, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants. He is also the current Treasurer of the Guyana Cricket Board, and is an active member of the People’s Assembly of God Church in Industry, ECD.
