GFF Elite League returns for exciting 8th season

Guyana’s premier men’s club competition will return on August 29, 2026, as the Guyana Football Fed-eration (GFF) Elite League kicks off its highly anticipated eighth season.
The new campaign follows a landmark Season Seven, which attracted more than 27,000 spectators, generated over 50 million digital views and continued to strengthen the pathway connecting Guyana’s leading domestic clubs to regional competition.
Season Seven champions Slingerz Football Club (FC) are currently representing Guyana at the 2026 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield in Trinidad and Tobago, where they advanced to the Round of 16 following a commanding 4-0 victory over SWA Sharks FC of the Turks and Caicos Is-lands in the First Round.
Slingerz FC will headline a competitive Season Eight line-up featuring Guyana Police Force FC, Guy-ana Defence Force FC, Western Tigers FC, Santos FC, Monedderlust FC, Ann’s Grove United, Den Amstel FC, Fruta Conquerors FC and newly promoted Camptown FC.

Slingerz FC will be coming into season 8 as defending champions

The ten clubs will compete over two rounds during an eight-month campaign. The opening phase will run from August to November 2026, before the race for the championship resumes from February to May 2027.
GFF President Wayne Forde said the league’s continued growth is creating stronger clubs, developing elite players and expanding Guyana’s presence across Caribbean football.
“The Elite League represents the pinnacle of domestic club football in Guyana and remains central to our vision for the continued advancement of the game. The success of Season Seven and Slingerz FC’s current representation of Guyana on the regional stage demonstrate the importance of providing our clubs and players with a strong, consistent and competitive national platform.”
With national pride, regional qualification and the championship at stake, Season Eight promises anoth-er compelling chapter in the rise of Guyanese football.
