The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has recently commenced investigating three critical reports which were brought to its attention.
BFA President, Keith O’Jeer, was suspended in April of this year
One of the investigations pertains to the suspension of the Berbice Football Association (BFA) President, Keith O’Jeer, for inappropriate conduct; another is an allegation of sexual harassment brought against referees; and the third takes a deeper looking into the Mexico versus Guyana hosting rights.
In the matter concerning O’Jeer, an independent investigator conducted and completed a preliminary inquiry into the allegation, following which a report was submitted to the GFF. That report will be examined by the Disciplinary Committee, which will review and pronounce on the matter.
The Federation has also appointed a Board of Inquiry to conduct interviews in regard to the allegation of sexual harassment being practised by referees. That Board is scheduled to present its report, including recommendations, to the GFF’s Executive Committee by end of September 2018. It is understood that the Committee will then review and pronounce on the matter.
Meanwhile, an investigation spearheaded by a consultant is ongoing into the hosting rights for the Mexico versus Guyana encounter. This consultant is scheduled to provide a fact-finding dossier which would include recommendations regarding any future action to be taken by the GCC.
To date, several persons have been interviewed, and financial documents have been submitted, including GFF’s audit reports, reflecting transactions processed during the period under review. The Committee is facilitating this very methodical process in order to ensure accuracy and finality.
