The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, East Bank Demerara (EBD) Praant will host its annual Diwali Motorcade and Cultural show on Saturday, October 22 at the Diamond Market Tarmac, Diamond New Housing Scheme.
In excess of 15 floats have confirmed their participation and are adding the final touches for the grand event. The well illuminated floats will leave Timehri, EBD, at 17:00h to assemble at G3 building for the first phase of the judging at 18:30h.
Other attraction includes performances by Prince Wazir and Band, Nachgana Dance Academy, artistes from various Mandirs, and a special appearance by Miss India Guyana Britney Singh. Admission to the event is absolutely free and no alcohol will be allowed.
However, on Sunday, October 23, motorcades will be held at Canje ground, East Berbice; Bath Community Centre ground, West Berbice; Port Mourant Community Centre ground, Central Corentyne; and Tagore High School, Upper Corentyne.
Thereafter, the Essequibo Praant will host its motorcade on October 27 at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground. On Friday, October 28, the West Coast Demerara Praant motorcade is fixed for the Oceanview Mandir compound.
The final and largest motorcade will be held on the eve of Diwali – Saturday, October 29. The beautifully decorated floats will leave Shri Krishna Mandir, Campbellville and make their way along Seawall road to the La Bonne Intention Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara, where there will be a spectacular cultural presentation.
