The 5th and final round of the Twenty20 format saw the Guyanese ladies finishing on a high note, after the veteran pacer Giddings dismantled the Leeward Islands attack to end with 4-18 from her four overs which was instrumental in their opponents being mowed down to a measly 50 in 17.5 overs.
Guyana’s star-studded bowling attack was again lethal as Subrena Munroe, Tremayne Smartt, Akaze Thompson, Sheneta Grimmond and left-arm spinner Kaysia Schultz; chipping in with a wicket apiece.
Leewards dismal batting outing was headlined by top-scorer Saneldo Willet who scored 11, as everyone else failed to pass 5. Chasing a meagre total, Guyana wrapped up their chase in empathic style; racing to 53-2 in 10.1 overs.
The chase was led by Captain Campbell, whose form in the T20s will have the selectors’ head turning, after she top-scored yet again; this time with three 4s and a six in her match-winning 28.
Meanwhile, Leann Kirby’s 46 saw her claim the player of the match award as Trinidad romped to a 7-wicket win over the Windward Islands while Roshanna Outar was declared Player of the Match in hosts Jamaica’s 4-run win over Barbados, which helped them capture the T20 Blaze Title.
