A 27-year-old gold miner of Mainstay Lake, Essequibo, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) was arrested and charged on June 1 with the offence of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Gavin Rodrigues is accused of committing the offence against Tyesha Morris on May 29 at Mainstay Lake, Essequibo. The charge is contrary to Section 50 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
Rodrigues appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea.
The Administration of Justice Act was applied, and Rodrigues pleaded not guilty. He was granted $50,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to August 4.
