GPF HQ inter-department table tennis competition: Immigration Department emerge victorious

The Guyana Police Force Headquarters inter-department table tennis competition concluded on Friday June 10th, 2022 with the Immigration Department copping first place, and the Tactical Services Unit coming in second. The Police Band Room finished in third place after their hard-fought victory over the IT Department in the playoff position.
The competition was coordinated by the Guyana Police Force Sports Secretariat in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), and was hosted at the Police Officers’ Mess at Eve Leary. The umpires were drawn from GTTA, and they ensured the smooth flow of the competition.
This table tennis competition, the intent of which was to unearth new talent within the Guyana Police Force, has been restarted after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, and the competition commenced on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 with teams from respective departments of the GPF.
The Immigration Department team comprised national talent Corporal Nigel Bryan, Constables Sampson and Romain, and W/Constables Anthony and Fraser; while the Tactical Services Unit team comprised Sergeants Etwaroo and Looknauth, Nathaniel Giddings and Lance Corporal Shako Wilson. The Band Room team consisted of Colwin Nelson and Lance Corporal Michael Smith Jr.
Sergeant 19962 Dharampall Etwaroo has been awarded the Most Valuable Player despite his division gaining second place in the competition.
Trophies were given to the winning team in recognition of their efforts and the excitement they brought to the game.
President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Godfrey Munroe, and Sports Development Officer (retired) Deputy Superintendent Colin Boyce was present at the headquarters’ inter-department table tennis competition. (GPF)
