Home News GPF severs ties with Lyken Funeral Home
After years of partnerships with the Lyken/Newbury Funeral Home, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) ended it on Monday after it was revealed that the entity failed to comply with National Insurance Scheme (NIS) and Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) regulations.
For years, Lyken Funeral Home has been assisting the Police Force with collecting, storing, and conducting post-mortem examinations on bodies that aided in the rank’s investigations.
On Tuesday, Head of the Communications Unit, Mark Ramotar confirmed that the Force will no longer solicit the services of the mortuary, adding that it failed to be in compliance with the National Insurance Scheme (NIS), and the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The funeral home was also cited for not being in accordance with the Health Ministry’s guidelines.
Guyana Times was also informed that the Force is looking for suitable candidates, who will not only provide a good service, but also keep in accordance with the criteria of the Guyana Police Force, the Ministry of Health, NIS and GRA.
