Young footballers attached to the Police Force Youth Academy received words of encouragement and a quantity of football gear on Thursday ahead of their participation in the upcoming Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Youth Ensemble Under-15 Tournament.
The meeting was held at the Police Sports Club in Georgetown and included Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Ravindradat Budhram; Senior Superintendent Jermaine Johnson, who serves as Chairman of the Police Force Football Club; Sports Development Officer Colin Boyce; Youth Club Coach Joel Gibson; and Cricket Coach Joel Alleyne, along with the players and their parents.
The initiative formed part of preparations for the GFA Youth Ensemble U15 competition, which is scheduled to begin this weekend.

During the engagement, the young footballers were presented with several items to aid their preparation for the tournament. The distribution included shin pads, footballs, uniforms, and other football gear.
Speaking briefly at the event, Senior Superintendent Johnson described the items as a simple gesture but one intended to motivate the youths as they prepare for the competition.
Deputy Commissioner Budhram also addressed the players, encouraging them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed both on and off the field. He highlighted the importance of balancing academics with sports while reminding the youngsters of the opportunities available within the Guyana Police Force through education and athletics.
Budhram urged the players to continue developing themselves through football, teamwork, discipline, and education as they work towards building successful futures.
The Deputy Commissioner also thanked parents for supporting the programme and allowing their children to participate and engage positively with the Guyana Police Force.
