GPL, MoE partner to strengthen technical training & employment opportunities

The Guyana Power & Light Inc (GPL) and the Education Ministry have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen technical education and create greater employment opportunities for students pursuing technical careers.
The partnership will support GPL’s accelerated technician training programme by creating a sustainable pool of skilled trainee technicians from institutions including the Government Technical Institute, New Amsterdam Technical Institute, Essequibo Technical Institute, and Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Centre.
Under the agreement, GPL and the technical institutes will work collaboratively to align training with industry needs, ensuring students gain the technical skills and competencies required for careers in the power sector. Speaking at the signing, Education Minister Sonia Parag described the initiative as a positive step that will benefit students across Guyana by creating greater opportunities for technical training and career development.
