GRDB awards bursary to 11 successful NGSA students
Eleven children of rice farmers selected from Regions Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Five (Mahaica-Berbice) and Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), who were successful at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), were the recipients of bursaries from the Guyana
Rice Development Board (GRDB), as the entity continues to value the contribution of its stakeholders within the rice industry.
General Manager of GRDB, Allison Peters, indicated that the awardees were the offspring of key players within the rice industry and it is a gesture of the Board in recognising the contributions made over the years, since its establishment in 1995.
“We value the contribution of your parents and guardians over the years, in ensuring that the rice industry continues to record successes in all areas… This is just the beginning of your journey and I implore you to strive for higher heights in your academic success,” Peters charged the awardees. The bursary package includes the payment of an allowance for five consecutive years to the awardees throughout their secondary school years.
