“Greatest of the Streets” quarterfinals to kick off this evening
The first sub meet of the 2019 Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” tournament will enter the quarter-final stage tomorrow evening with four scintillating matches on the line-up.
The West Coast/East Bank subdivision is the first one to be contested for the 2019 installation of the Guinness tournament and is quickly coming to a close; however, the competition will heat up tomorrow evening as 16 teams have been weeded
down to eight for the quarter-finals.
Defending champions Showstoppers are entering the quarter-final round on a high after an undefeated run so far.
Their most recent victims were Boom Bang last Friday night. Showstoppers crushed any chance that Boom Bang had of advancing with a 3-0 win.
The other team in Group A to advance are Up Top Bosses, who were gifted with a walkover on the last playing night which saw them being able to advance with six points.
Out of Group B, ESPN and Brothers United will have their shot in the quarter-finals after finishing the group stage on nine and six points respectively.
Meanwhile, Jetty and West Side Ballers will be the Group C representatives, while Bagotstown and Ballers Empire will emerge out of Group D.
This evening at the Pouderoyen tarmac, West Coast Demerara, Up Top Bosses will look to overcome Group C’s leader Jetty. ESPN and Baller’s Empire will battle each other while Bagotstown Warriors face off with Brothers United for a spot in the semi-finals.
No doubt, the headline game of the night will be the impending encounter between defending champions Showstoppers and West Side Ballers. Group C runner-ups West Side Ballers will have an uphill task ahead of them if they are going to spoil the unblemished run that Showstoppers have had, dating back to last year.
