Greene leads Guyanese sweep at Tour de Bim

Andre Greene led a Guyanese sweep of the top three places in Saturday’s Division Two race at the Tour de Bim in Barbados, while Kwame Fortune secured a stage victory in the Masters 50+ category.

Greene, representing Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycling Club (CC), finished ahead of Continental CC rider Alexander Leung and Alex Mendes (KARCC), who placed second and third, respectively. The result gave Guyana a strong showing on Saturday, alongside Fortune’s victory in stage two of his category.
The success followed a disrupted Friday night programme. The Division Two race was nullified after a crash in which a member of the organising team suffered a broken ankle.
In Friday’s Elite race, Briton John finished fifth. John is competing alongside fellow Guyanese Ajani Cutting and Aaron Newton in that category.
Saturday’s Division Two podium featured riders entered across three categories. Greene is contesting the senior category, where Guyana is also represented by Christopher Griffith. Leung is competing in the Junior category, while Mendes is among the Masters 35–49 entrants.
Kwame Ridley and Segun Hubbard complete Guyana’s representation in the Masters 35–49 category. Fortune and Mark Spencer are competing in Masters 50+, while junior rider Tandeia Noel is representing Guyana in the female competition.
Since its debut in 2023, the Tour de Bim has brought local and overseas cyclists together on Barbados’ roads. The event takes its name from “Bim”, a familiar nickname for Barbados, and combines international cycling competition with the island’s sports tourism programme.
The Guyanese cyclists are scheduled to return home on October 6.
