Guyana Cup Rematch washed out

The ongoing rainy season has taken its toll on sport once again in Berbice, this time taking to the horse racing track and forcing a cancellation to the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee’s Guyana Cup Rematch.

The 8-race card was heating up to be highly competitive and a fitting way to end the year on Sunday December 31 but the prolonged rainfall has left the Rising Sun Turf Club inaccessible thus making it impossible for the track’s preparation.
The organizers are now looking as far as February 2018 for their next major event since a break in the current rainy season is not within sight.

The annual Boxing Day race programme organized by the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club was also cancelled since the track at Bush Lot Farm was severely affected by the rain.
