Guyana’s track and field team added another gold medal to their tally at the South American Youth Games in Panama City, Panama, producing a commanding performance in the men’s 4x100m relay on Friday at the Rommel Fernández Stadium.
The quartet of Ezekiel Millington, David Williams, Deuquan Farrell and Gordon Thompson combined efficiently to clock 41.56 seconds for first place, taking Guyana’s overall medal count to five. Chile finished second in 42.33s, while Brazil secured bronze in 43.23s.

Guyana entered the final stretch with a slight advantage after Farrell’s third-leg run, before Thompson powered away from the field on the anchor leg, extending the lead decisively to seal the victory.
Earlier in the day, the Guyanese athletes delivered encouraging performances in the 200m semi-finals. Farrell won the second men’s semi-final in 21.89s to advance as the fastest qualifier, while Thompson also secured his place in the final after finishing second in 22.16s.
On the women’s side, Angel Jeffrey progressed to the final after placing second in semi-final two with a time of 24.46s. However, Akeela Dover missed out on qualification, finishing fourth in her semi-final in 25.16s.
