Guyanese fisherman dies aboard vessel in Surinamese waters

A 41-year-old Berbice, Region Six fisherman, who left his home on Monday to work onboard a fishing vessel in Surinamese waters has died.
Dead is Deolall Sooklall of Number 56 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Reports are the father of six departed the Number 66 Fisheries wharf early on Monday morning but his family did not hear from him. This raised some suspicion and as his family made inquiries, they were told that the other fishermen whom Sooklall worked with made a report to the police in Berbice that the now dead man had collapsed on the vessel on Thursday.
According to reports, the man was unresponsive and the vessel returned to shore to obtain medical attention. However, Sooklall was pronounced dead.
According to the police, there were no visible marks of violence on Sooklall’s body.
Guyana Times understands that the now dead man’s body has been taken to the Skeldon mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination. Meanwhile, investigations into the matter continues. However, his family are contending that he was in good health and does not suffer from any illness.
