Headquarters in charge after opening Day of GPF Annual Athletics Championship

The Guyana Police Force annual athletics championship got underway on Sunday with two events, its road relay and swimming competitions. Headquarters dominated both events to finish atop of the point standings at the end of the first day of activities.
The winners led the way in the pool at the National Aquatic Centre as they dominated in seven out of the ten events. ‘A’ ‘B’ and ‘C’ divisions were no match for Headquarters who dominated the following proceedings; 50m freestyle, 50 m breast stroke, 50m butterfly, 50m men’s back stroke, 50m females back stroke, female relay and 50m mixed stroke relay.
‘A’ Division won the other three categories namely, 50m freestyle, 50m breast stroke and 50m butterfly, to finish second place with 94 points.
The overall results at the end of the 10 events were, Headquarters 124, ‘A’ Division 94, ‘C’ Division 62 and ‘B’17.

In the mixed road relay, Headquarters finished first, ‘A’ Division in second and Country Division and ‘B’ Division finished in third and fourth respectively.
Upcoming activities are Track and Field Today, Wednesday 27 and Friday 29. First two days activities will commence at 10:00hrs and on the final day at 14:00hrs.
