Fresh from a dominant win against the Windward Islands Volcanoes on Tuesday, the Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) batsmen are still to get a century after two rounds of play.
Matthew Nandu, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Tevin Imlach, Kemol Savory and Kevlon Anderson are the top batters in the side, all of whom had starts but failed to move on to the acclaimed triple figures.
As such, the Head Coach of the GHE, Ryan Hercules, is calling for batsmen to convert those starts and score centuries. This has been a worrying sign for the coach.
“[The] guys need to capitalise and score big. I spoke to [the] guys about not converting starts and not getting centuries. That’s still a worrying sign for me,” Hercules said.
The coach gave full credit to the bowlers and lauded the improved effort, especially from the new-ball bowlers, who set the tone in the second round.
“We did ask for our bowlers to make adjustments from the last game. Taking early wickets is one of the main things from our fast bowlers. We would have seen that with Nial Smith, Shamar Joseph and Keemo Paul.”
“It was a smaller ground, but nevertheless, it was a good effort to restrict the Windward Islands,” Hercules said.
GHE will play the third-round fixture on Sunday, April 26, at Coolidge Cricket Ground.
