Hire car driver fined for being untidy

A hire car driver of Christianburg, Wismar, Linden, was on Monday fined $7500 by Magistrate Wanda Fortune for the offence of being untidy when he appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The defendant, Peter Matthews of Lot 6 Section C, Christianburg, was also charged for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), but that charge was dismissed owing to insufficient evidence from the prosecution.
The court heard that on Friday, October 26, 2018, Matthews drove motor car HC 5594 along Burnham Drive, Wismar and failed to be clean and properly dressed.
The defendant told the court that he was off duty on the day in question when he received a call from a relative asking to be picked up. He said he decided to do so while clad in a pair of three-quarter pants.
The facts of the case indicated that the defendant was stopped by Police who observed his car had a single headlight.
