Husband kills self after stabbing wife to death over claims of infidelity

A Recht-Door-Zee, West Bank Demerara (WBD) woman was brutally stabbed to death after she was accused of being unfaithful by her husband who subsequently took his own life.

Dead are 56-year-old Sarah Bacchus Arjoon, a saleswoman and 69-year-old Khemraj Arjoon both of Lot 755 Recht-Door-Zee, WBD.
Based on reports received, the woman’s motionless body was found by her 13-year-old daughter at about 15:30h lying in a pool of blood inside the bedroom. The teen also found her father gasping for breath on the bed suspected to have consumed a poisonous substance.
A note written on a piece of cardboard implicating the now-dead woman in an alleged affair was found nearby. Following the discovery, an alarm was raised and the police were contacted.
At the scene, police questioned the murder suspect who admitted to ingesting a poisonous substance and directed ranks to the area where he disposed of the bottle.
As such, Police took possession of a blood-stained knife suspected to be the murder weapon and the note as evidence.
However, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police added that the murder suspect was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where later succumbed. When the media visited the home of the dead couple on Monday, the house was locked.
Neighbours, however, stated that as the man got down in age, he started to get sickly thus forcing the woman to seek employment at the same store with her teenage daughter. They described her as a very quiet and helpful person who lived ‘good’ with everyone.
The neighbours vowed that the woman was not having an extra-marital relationship while adding that she was a good wife.
