A man, who says that he is a “hustler” when asked by Magistrate Fabayo Azore his occupation, was on Wednesday jailed for three years and fined when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

possession of 102 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

According to Police Prosecutor Simone Payne, the father of two was observed by ranks on patrol acting in a suspicious manner on the day in question.

As such, he was approached; however, he then threw a black bag away and attempted to flee.

He was apprehended and taken back to the location where he threw the bag. It was searched and leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be those of the cannabis plant were found.

The defendant was then taken to the Alberttown Police Station where the illicit substance was weighed in his presence. In a plea of mitigation, Aaron told the Magistrate that he was unemployed and was finding it difficult to find full-time work.

“I can’t get work and I spoke with a brethren and decided to do this, because I got to provide for my children. But I am very sorry, madam. I don’t want my children to beg people. All I ask is for me to get to see them one more time before I go to jail,” he told the Magistrate.

Magistrate Azore sentenced him to three years in prison along with a fine of $153,000.
