Illegal firearm, ammo lands duo on remand

A 37-year-old carpenter and his alleged 24-year-old accomplice, who are both known to the Police, on Friday appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly after they were slapped with a joint charge for possession of an unlicensed firearm along with matching ammunition.
It is alleged that Lloyd Sadloo of Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara; and Seon Bourne, of High Street, Georgetown, had in their possession a .38 pistol along with four live matching rounds of ammunition without being licensed firearm holders on January 7, 2019 at Vlissengen Road, Georgetown.
Sadloo was represented by Attorney George Thomas while Bourne was represented by Attorney Adrian Thompson, who both made bail applications on behalf of their respective clients.
According to the prosecution’s case, the duo was intercepted by patrolling ranks in motorcar PWW 5460, which was parked in the vicinity of the 1763 Monument.
A search was conducted and the firearm and ammunition were found inside the car. Both men denied knowledge of the illegal weapon and were arrested and charged for the offence. Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh informed the court that Bourne is wanted for two counts of armed robbery and simple larceny. Magistrate Daly remanded both men to prison. The case will continue on February 15.
