INTERPOL, FBI already engaged in search for DreamVu Homes contractor – Housing Ministry

The Housing Ministry, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), on Friday evening said that it is pursuing local and international enforcement measures against contractor Omar Malik and his company, DreamVu Homes, over allegations related to unfulfilled housing contracts.
In a statement on Friday, the Ministry said it remains committed to using all available legal, administrative, and international channels to ensure accountability and seek justice for families affected by the contractor’s actions.
According to the Ministry, concerns surrounding Malik’s failure to meet contractual obligations tied to the construction of Young Professional Homes have been under investigation for an extended period, predating recent public discussions on the matter.
The Ministry noted that it issued several public notices through social media platforms and national newspapers, including notices published in August 2025, calling on Malik to report to the Ministry to address outstanding financial issues.
Following what it described as continued non-compliance, formal reports were submitted to the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
The Ministry further disclosed that after Malik reportedly left Guyana, its Enforcement and Compliance Department engaged regional and international law enforcement agencies. Information relating to the matter has been shared with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS), and other relevant authorities for review and possible cross-border action.
CH&PA said it has maintained contact with affected individuals and continues to explore lawful avenues to assist those impacted. The agency added that efforts are ongoing to gather information, support investigations and facilitate possible resolutions.
While acknowledging the hardship experienced by affected families, the Ministry said it has acted in accordance with legal procedures and has cooperated fully with the relevant authorities throughout the process.
The Ministry also rejected claims that regulatory agencies had failed to act, describing such assertions as inaccurate and inconsistent with the actions already taken. It cautioned against what it termed politically motivated attempts to misrepresent the situation and urged the public to rely on documented facts.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and the protection of citizens’ interests as investigations continue.
