Competing in scorching sunshine, John won the 10-lap Elite race before returning to capture the feature 20-lap Open race with a powerful sprint to the finish line.
Young Alexander Leung controlled much of the Open race and collected several sprint prizes after joining a five-man breakaway with John, Alex Mendes, Aaron Newton and Ajani Cutting. However, John remained composed in the middle of the group and conserved his energy for the closing laps.
When the decisive sprint began, John produced the stronger finish to beat Leung into second place. Mendes secured third, while Newton and Cutting completed the top five.
John earlier won the Elite race ahead of Newton and Paul DeNobrega.
Leung gained some consolation by winning the junior category. Tristan Jaichan placed second, while Kevon Stephens finished third.
Roy Mangru led the Masters 35-plus field, beating Robin Persaud and Segun Hubbard. In the Masters 50-plus division, Mark Spencer took first place ahead of Ray Haliquin and Deon David.
Tandeia Noel won the female race, with Alicia Benjamin and Rebecca Damon placing second and third, respectively. Tyrone Hamilton claimed the Category Four title ahead of Leon Koulen and Carlos Mendonca.
The meet also featured several BMX races for boys and girls. Cadeem Bascom won the Boys Under-8 contest ahead of Truman Adams and Kenson Bascom, while Arianna Johnson topped the Girls Under-8 category ahead of Jamilla Samuels.
Delisa Luke won the Girls 9–12 race, followed by Jamelia Samuels and Denika Stephenson. Josiah Hoyte claimed the Boys 9–12 title ahead of Prince Johnson and Jaden Crawford.
Joshua Holder finished first in the Boys 13–15 race, with Jamar Samuels second and Emboyo Crawford third. Shaniah Johnson won the Girls 13–15 category ahead of Brittany Crawford.
More than 40 cyclists participated across the various categories during the inaugural event.
