Joseph optimistic of Trojans making 2-Day semis

The GCA cricketing season has reopened and as such the UG Trojans are looking to book their spot in the Noble House Seafoods Two-Day Second-Division tournament.

Damion Vantul’s return has boosted the Trojans squad

As such, Trojans Coach Kenroy Joseph is optimistic that his side can make the cut, with the inclusion of fresh talent for the 2020 season.
When asked by Guyana Times his views on the performance of the Trojans this season, Joseph said, “Well, since the season has restarted, we have won two 40-overs matches and one Two-Day Second-Division match. We are positive of the season thus far; we just need to work on our fielding; since the season has started, we have put down at least 20 catches. I know we will be able to correct this issue, as we have a new ground we are using. We are using the Queen’s College Ground; thus, we are getting the much-needed practice. We have two more two-day games remaining; it is our hope to win both, worst-case scenario is that we can win one and draw the other, this should secure us a spot in the semi-final.”
Joseph went on to state that the squad was now better than before as it was boosted by the experienced Damion Vantul, who gives them a better chance of qualifying. He also noted that there were also other players who give the squad that much-needed boost such as Yakini Favourite, Devon Paul, Omesh Danram, Oswald Benn, Ershaad Ali, (and) Keon Roberts, which is a good reflection on the team.
Joseph also declared: “I am extremely grateful to the University of Guyana for allowing me to complete my Level 2 coaching (certification), and I will be looking forward to a better partnership with the university, to foster more growth in cricket.”
