Slingerz FC final game of the Stag Elite League Finale on Sunday night at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora ended with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Monedderlust. Julian Wade led the way with a four-goal haul as Slingerz FC finished the season as the only team to play unbeaten.
Wade started the rampage early as he netted in the second minute of play leaving Monedderlust in an early predicament. Wade would once again find the back of the net in the 32nd minute giving Slingers a 2-0 lead with thirteen minutes to play in the half.
Slingerz dominated possession throughout most of the game with their quick one touch passing as Monedderlust struggled to maintain a good spell of possession.
The second half picked up right where the first left off and Julian Wade would net his third goal of the evening in the 72nd completing his hat-trick. Three minutes later Monedderlust found themselves in a much deeper hole when Seon Jackman was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the evening leaving Monedderlust with 10-men.
Slingerz wasted little time to capitalize on the opportunity as Wade capped off his four-goal haul with a brilliant strike in the 78th to give his side a 4-0 advantage. Clive Nobrega also got a piece of the action after netting in the 88th.
Slingerz complete the season on 40 points as they await the start of the Final Four showdown. Meanwhile, Monedderlust remain on 6 points and 7th in the table.
In the other match of the double header, Alpha United defeated Buxton United 3-0. Joshua Browne scored in the 14th minute while Anthony Abrams netted a brace in the 38th and 63rd minutes respectively.
The next set of match-ups will see GFC face off against GDF FC and Fruta Conquerors FC take on Pele FC, the dates and venue will be announced soon.
