Guyana’s champion jockey, Colin Ross piloted Looking to Heaven to a crushing win in the feature event of the Port Mourant Turf Club horse meet on a cool afternoon in the Ancient County of Berbice.

The Jumbo Jet horse, claimed the one-million-dollar prize dominating the field to finish ahead of Coup D’ Etat of Jagdeo Racing Stables.
Jessica’s Pride (third) and Golden Blue Echo (fourth) were the other top finishers in the feature event, which ran at a distance of one mile. The race had a slight delayed start as two-time Guyana Cup champion, Vera’s Finally was refusing to enter the starting gate.

The thrilling day began under clear skies with the J3 Non Starters. Tiny finished first ahead of Lord’s Gift l, Perfect Progressive and Republic 2 in that order. The opening race, which saw the top horse bagging $200,000, was sponsored by KP Jagdeo General Contractors and stakes was presented by Sandeep Poultry Supply.

The second race of the day was the J Class event which saw Red Star pipping Cash Return to claim the $300,000 cash prize. Perfect Storm finished third while Skittles came fourth. In the third race of the day, Princess Stefan’s got the better of American Traveller in the G&Lower event. Amicable Kate and Memories finished third and fourth respectively.
